Ratio of Analysts to VPs

Our Analysts.

With 44 currently active Analysts & 10 Senior Analysts, Analysts form the backbone of GUSIF. Analysts come from all Georgetown schools, majors, & backgrounds - many without any prior finance experience

Education Process

All first-semester Analysts are considered New Analysts & are required to go through a robust weekly education process. No prior finance knowledge is required - we give Analysts all the tools they need to succeed within the Fund. With a 3.6x ratio of analysts to VPs, Analysts have easy access to mentorship & small-group education sessions.

Hands-on Experience

Even as a New Analyst, you will form an integral part of your industry group & have a say in General Body Meetings, where pitches are presented & voted on. Throughout the semester, you will have opportunities to participate in idea sourcing, pitch generation, and presentation alongside other analysts, industry VPs, and your PM.

Opportunities

Analysts receive close mentorship, career advice, and guidance from senior Fund members, as well as various advancement opportunities within the Fund. GUSIF Analysts also gain access to GUSIF-specific recruiting events & opportunities, a robust alumni network, and additional finance-specific & general career resources.

Our Vice-Presidents.

Vice-Presidents, referred to as VPs, play an integral role in industry member & portfolio management. Each industry group has approximately 2-3 VPs, with 15 total across the Fund.

Portfolio Management

VPs support the industry Portfolio Manager in managing all aspects of the portfolio, ranging from position monitoring to pitching. In effect, VPs are crucial to pitch drafting & will most likely contribute to multiple pitches throughout a semester.

Education & Analysts

VPs are further responsible for hosting weekly VP Sessions, consisting of small-group meetings to reinforce the general analyst education program. Additionally, VPs serve as a point of contact and general resource for Analysts, often bonding with them over the course of a semester of small-group sessions & social events.

Selection Process

VPs fall between Analysts and Portfolio Managers in terms of hierarchy, and are selected amongst a pool of competitive Analyst candidates. Oftentimes, VPs are former Analysts from the same industry group, but industry-hopping is not uncommon. The selection process involves an interview with the Portfolio Manager, and the final decisions are left to the Portfolio Manager’s discretion.

Our Community.

GUSIF is more than finance & investing - it’s a community of like-minded Georgetown students united by more than spreadsheets & analyst reports. Apart from the education & pitching, GUSIF provides various social events & bonding opportunities, leading to a strong sense of community within the Fund. Beyond investing, you can find your home on the Hilltop at GUSIF.
